Pasta & Fazul, meaning "pasta and beans", is a traditional Italian dish. Like many other Italian favorites, including pizza and polenta, the dish started as a peasant dish, being composed of inexpensive ingredients.
[cooked-sharing]
Rinse beans, and soak in a large pot of about two quarts (2 litres) of room temperature water, for at least 8 hours
Bring pot to a boil, then leave to cook on low flame for about 30/40 minutes until the beans are tender
Add the oil, garlic (chopped if you prefer or just crushed), tomatoes (cut into small pieces), chopped parsley, salt to taste, and if you like, crushed red pepper (or the chili pepper can be offered as a condiment on the table.)
Leave to cook for about 20 minutes
In the same pot, cook the pasta for about 8 minutes
Remember to have some extra boiling water to add later if necessary
The consistency should be similar to a risotto, not too watery
