I was very blessed to be able to participate in the Culture Discovery Vacations "Cooking in Paradise on the Amalfi Coast" trip in early September of 2017. It was truly an amazing experience with amazing people. I loved every person, every meal, every drink, every excursion, and every second of the trip and will carry the memories with me forever. My only concern and caution to others considering this trip is with the stairs - holy moly! From street level in Amalfi up to the Villa used for the classes and our sleeping accomodations there were a total of 273 stairs to climb. This isn't the number of steps taken as there are some areas where there are 50 feet or so of level ground to also cover. This is the number of actual stairs. So 273 stairs to climb from street level. At times it is possible to take an elevator part way up from inside the hotel area or the city tunnel, and this reduces the number of stairs to 163 with some areas of flat walkways also. No matter what, each journey from and to the villa requires climbing or descending anywhere from 163 to almost 300 stairs. This does help use up calories consumed from the delicious cooking classes and meals served! But be aware - all those stairs are not for the faint of heart!
