Too much tuna and unexciting menus

Favignana is well known for its tuna. But it is a seaport fishing town and there are other fish in the sea. How about some sea bass, calamari or octopus?

The menus were uninspiring and not more than what we can make in our homes.  The lack of seafood was disappointing in the extreme.  There are numerous menus involving fish indigenous to Favignana that we saw nothing of.  We don't go here to learn how to cook veal or eggplant parmigiana.  Instead, we wanted to take advantage of the vast fish bounty caught everyday- some by one of the fisherman whose house we went to.

Massimo and Evan were just great and worked very hard to make our stay enjoyable and for us to experience the local environment.  The times on the small boats, the dinners there and the singing with the fisherman were exhilarating as was the pizza party at the fisherman's house.  They are to be commended for their efforts.

I think you need to revisit the wisdom of the ricotta making.  The facilities and equipment clearly and blatantly lack any reasonable measure sanitary standards.  And one has to question whether the ricotta made one day was properly refrigerated - or was refrigerated at all- so as to be safely served the next.  From my personal reaction, I sincerely doubt it.  You can ask our guides for more details.

Overall, it was a good experience, but not a great one.
