The Insider Experience

While cooking plays a role in this journey, it’s not the central focus as it is with many of our Italy vacations. This trip is all about immersing yourself in the rich tapestry of Croatian life and culture. You'll be welcomed into the private homes of local families, sharing their traditions, stories, and daily rhythms. From the moment you step into their kitchens, you’ll experience the heartfelt hospitality that makes this region so special.

The cooking classes are intimate and hands-on, offering a glimpse into authentic Dalmatian recipes passed down through generations. These classes are about connection and tradition, not just technique, giving you a meaningful taste of life in Croatia.

What truly sets this experience apart is the chance to step beyond the kitchen and into the heart of local culture. Whether you're sipping homemade rakija from a Serbian monastery, exploring family wineries, or simply soaking in the warmth of Croatian hospitality, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation of life here—one that's impossible to find as a tourist.

True Farm-To-Table, Truly Local

Everything we eat starts with ingredients, most of which is sourced directly from the famous Split Pazar market or our local network of friends and producers. The olive oil comes from family-run presses along the coast. The wine flows from small vineyards growing indigenous grapes like Plavac Mali. The seafood arrives fresh each morning from local fishing boats. This is real Croatian cooking, using methods and ingredients that have sustained families here for centuries.

The Excursions

Our explorations take us well beyond the usual tourist paths, immersing you in the heart of Dalmatia's rich culture and history. You'll set out on private speedboats to the stunning islands of Hvar and Brač, where crystal-clear waters and authentic island life await, shared with our local friends. We’ll visit the historic fortress city of Knin and meet an Orthodox monk at a Serbian monastery, followed by a serene picnic along the banks of the Krka River. You’ll also savor the region’s winemaking heritage at local wineries — where Zinfandel originated—and celebrate with locals in their homes, experiencing true Dalmatian hospitality and friendship. Every excursion is thoughtfully crafted to connect you deeply with the people, traditions, and soul of this incredible region.

The Food & Wine

Croatian cuisine is a beautiful fusion of Mediterranean and Balkan influences. From perfectly grilled fish with local olive oil to slow-cooked peka dishes, from fresh pasta with Dalmatian prosciutto to delicate pastries, every meal is an adventure. We'll pair dishes with wines from family-run vineyards, including varieties you can only find in Croatia. And yes, we'll be talking about dinner during lunch – this is Croatia, after all!

The wine is always flowing at lunch and dinner. We take a lot of pride in making sure that we're pairing the right dish with one of the fantastic local wines. Everyone has their preferences. Find out which ones you like best!

At Home with the Locals

This is where our experience truly shines. You'll dine in private homes, share stories with local families, and experience the legendary Croatian hospitality firsthand. Our friends welcome you into their lives – whether it's a pottery class with our host's next door neighbor, or a traditional BBQ at a countryside ranch.

Your daily encounters with locals will leave a lasting impression not only on yourselves, but also with the locals as they really love our guests and the interaction that takes place. They are as genuine as it comes and you will feel it from the moment you arrive until the time to say goodbye.

This will most-likely be unlike anything you have experienced when traveling. You are invited into people's homes and lives and will be welcomed in as if you have known them for years.

By week's end, you'll have experienced a Croatia that few tourists ever see. You'll understand why this ancient coast has captivated visitors for thousands of years, and why the warmth of Croatian hospitality is famous worldwide. Most importantly, you'll have made friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
