This is our first CDV trip. We stumbled across the company on-line while looking for cooking classes in Italy. What a find! This was our first time in the Piedmont area of Italy and it was everything we could have asked for. The coordination and logistics were flawless which made the trip stress free. Lorenzo our guide was really fun and knowledgeable about all kinds of things (including non-italian things) and was the official photographer so we didn't have to spend time taking pictures and just enjoyed the experience. The accommodations at Villa Cornarea were first rate--the room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfasts were lavish, the setting was beautiful and the staff was so nice and accommodating. Our local host Alessandro was incredibly sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines of the area. He had us taste such a variety,--it really opened our eyes to the larger Italian wine portfolio. We are now trying to track some of them down here at home!
The cooking classes with Marina and Monica were truly fun and instructive. Being in Marina's home kitchen made all the difference. It did feel like cooking and eating with our family. We laughed, ate and drank just like family. Those 2 ladies absolutely made those meals one of the most fun cooking experiences we have had.
The truffle hunting experience was really exciting but the lunch really sealed the deal! The food was fantastic (and the puppies were adorable).
The pizza night at Alessandro's parents' house was a true gift. Again, it was like sitting around with our family eating, talking, laughing. And the setting was gorgeous.
CDV really does deliver a "local" experience. We have told so many friends now about CDV that we hope it pays off for them as well. We are now looking for our next CDV adventure!
